Explore PDX On Foot
Rain or shine, Portland ranks as the 13th most walkable city in the United States. With sidewalks in all the places they should be and public transportation serving every corner of the city, a car is hardly necessary for even the most casual urban hikers among us.
Here’s a list of our top five favorite places to go within walking distance of the Jacobberger House.
The Portland Farmer’s Market at PSU (0.6 miles)
This open-air market runs every Saturday year-round. Here you can find amazing produce from the area, crafts by local artists, food carts and countless other goods. Regardless of if you’re interested in buying, the art and music make the market worth stopping by for the experience alone. The best part? It’s right down the street.

Powell’s is within a mile’s walking distance or a streetcar ride away. You can catch the streetcar (The A-Loop an NS line will both get you there) at SW Park & Mill Street.
