Getting Around PDX

When you visit Portland, don’t feel obligated to rent a car; there are so many ways to get around. Wether you want to get some exercise while you’re at it or not, you’ve got options.

Public Transportation

Give Portland’s excellent public transportation system a try. When you visit the Jacobberger House, you’ll have access to dozens of routes within walking distance. Most stops have a contactless payment option to travel by streetcar, bus or MAX light rail, and Trimet offers a trip planning tool for those who would like to explore potential routes.

Bike and E-Scooter Rental

Want to get around Portland on a bike you can leave just about anywhere when you’re done with it? Why not rent one? The bright orange bikes and bike racks emblazoned with the Nike logo are hard to miss. Download the BIKETOWNpdx app on your smartphone to start your ride. For those who prefer an electric scooter rental, companies like Lime, Bolt and Bird are all great options. Download any of the apps to unlock your scooter. Just be careful to stay off the sidewalks and in the bike lanes to avoid breaking any laws.

Private Car

Uber and Lyft are both very active in Portland. But if you’re interested in supporting local businesses, give Radio Cab a shot. You can call or download the app for a ride, and rest assured that your money is going to a driver/veteran owned business that has been operating in the Portland area since 1946.

Travel by Foot

Portland is extremely walkable. With efficient sidewalks and designated pedestrian bridges across the city, you can get anywhere in the city with your own two feet so long as you’re ready to burn some calories.
